Manager/Supervisor

The Controller will direct the financial affairs of the organization and prepare financial analyses of operations, for the guidance of management. The Controller is responsible for the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. The position involves supervision over general accounting, internal auditing, budgetary controls and Human Resources.  The Controller is part of the Executive Team and participates in setting company strategy along with management of the business. 

Specific responsibilities include:

 
  • Develops, analyzes and interprets statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
  • Maintains the company's system of accounts using a powerful ERP system and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets
  • Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel on the Accounting team including human resource services.
  • Prepares the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures, and analyzes and reports variances.
  • Is responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.   Oversees the use of sales tax software.   
  • Using Power BI, furnishes internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary.
  • Prepare and provide monthly bank compliance documents.
  • Coordinate and prepare all worksheets for outside CPA firm, oversee the annual review. 
  • Oversee cash management practices, including credit and collections of Customer accounts. 
  • Manage company credit cards.
  • Oversee all benefits including health insurance, 401K, and other employee benefits.
  • Oversees the renewal process for corporate insurance programs.  This includes worker’s compensation, property and casualty, auto, D&O, product liability, group insurance and any other form of corporate insurance needed.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA or MBA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressive accounting experience with a significant portion of it being in a supervisory role
  • Experience in the distribution/wholesaling industry is highly desirable
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization
  • Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
  • Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with computerized financial systems, particularly Microsoft products.
